Seeking an outgoing, collaborative Epidemiologist to play a pivotal role in advancing overdose surveillance and leading a statewide multidisciplinary working group. This role balances data analytics with stakeholder facilitation, focusing on translating complex public health datasets into actionable insights, building cross-agency relationships, and developing clear, timely dashboards and visualizations.
Key Responsibilities
Working Group Facilitation: Confidently organize and lead monthly meetings for a large, multidisciplinary partner group. Structure agendas, distribute meeting materials, coordinate subject-matter expert presentations, and facilitate discussions on evidence-based overdose interventions.
Stakeholder Engagement & Expansion: Identify, recruit, and onboard regional epidemiologists, local health partners, and partner agency representatives. Develop and manage a shared resource hub to house meeting records, presentations, and surveillance data.
Annual In-Person Meeting: Assist in planning and executing an annual statewide event featuring program spotlights, data utility reviews, and partner travel coordination.
Surveillance & Data Visualization: Work with large health surveillance datasets to create, maintain, and publish user-friendly visualizations and dashboards.
Process Documentation: Standardize analytical methodologies and workflows to guarantee reproducibility, data integrity, and operational transparency.
Qualifications & Education
Masters in Public Health (MPH) or Ph.D. in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.
Proven track record in health data analysis, overdose surveillance, or public health programming.
Strong public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to bridge technical analytics and policy discussions.
Hands-on proficiency with analytical coding languages (R, SAS, or SQL) and BI tools (Tableau, R Shiny, or similar).
Working Conditions:
Location: Nashville, TN (Hybrid 1 to 2 days per week on-site)
Schedule: Monday Friday, 7.5 hours/day (8:00 AM 4:30 PM CST)
Residency: Must be a Tennessee resident (or establish residency prior to starting date)
